Background
The Southern Railway Lord Nelson class is a type of 4-cylinder 4-6-0 steam locomotive designed for the Southern Railway by Richard Maunsell in 1926. A total of 16 locomotives were built and withdrawn from service between 1961 and 1962.
The only surviving member of this class is No. 850 "Lord Nelson", and is currently a member of the National Railway Collection.
