Background
The London, Midland & Scottish Railway Coronation Class is a type of 4-cylinder 4-6-2 steam locomotive designed for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway by Sir William Stanier between 1937 and 1948. A total of 38 locomotives were built and withdrawn from service between 1962 and 1964.
Three members of this class are preserved to this day, and are currently members of the National Railway Collection.
