London & North Eastern Railway 4-6-2 A4 Class

Background
The London & North Eastern Railway A4 Class is a type of streamlined 3-cylinder 4-6-2 steam locomotive designed for the London & North Eastern Railway by Sir Nigel Gresley in between 1935 and 1938. A total of 35 locomotives were built and withdrawn from service between 1962 and 1966.

Six members of this class are preserved to this day, and are currently members of the National Railway Collection.
