Background
The London Midland and Scottish Railway 2MT class is a type of 2-cylinder 2-6-2T steam locomotive designed for the London Midland and Scottish Railway by Henry Ivatt in between 1946 and 1952. A total of 130 locomotives were built and withdrawn from service between 1962 and 1967.
Four members of this class are preserved to this day, and are currently members of the National Railway Collection.
